How to grow faster: Irish finance startup helping ecommerce stores with revenue finance

Across the world, as central banks lift interest rates to reduce economic activity to reduce inflation – the impact is revenue growth is harder to achieve.  

Shopify (one of the worlds leading e-commerce platforms) CEO shared a graph that the bull run of enormous growth during covid had now returned to pre-pandemic levels – recession levels.

An Irish startup – Wayflyer, started in September 2019 and is transforming e-commerce banking and capital raising. 

Wayflyer is a revenue-based financing platform for e-commerce merchants and has raised $76 million in a Series A funding round led by Left Lane Capital.

  • Businesses typically take out loans of between $300,000-$400,000 for inventory purchases, shipping costs and other big-ticket items necessary for an e-commerce business.
  • Repayments are a percentage of their revenue until the money is paid back (plus a fee charged for the cash advance). 

Revenue finance is an area traditional bankers will not visit. 

Wayflyer recently signed an agreement with Adobe Commerce, a partnership it said would provide a new channel to further amplify its growth with the goal of funding 8,000 e-commerce businesses in the first year. 

65% of Wayflyer’s customers today are in the U.S. and North America, with the remainder in Western Europe (mainly the U.K.) and Australia.
